Cardiovascular Technologist (Cardiac Service Line)

Job Description
Provides support to the physician performing cardiovascular procedures. Ensures quality control of all equipment and performs special procedures.
1. Performs a variety of duties to prepare unit for cardiovascular procedures.
2. Prepares sterile field for invasive procedures.
3. Ensures all instrumentation/equipment for each procedure is presented on the table in the established fashion.
4. Prepares patient for invasive procedures.
5. Enters patient, procedure and equipment into computer system.
6. Ensures patients are correctly prepped and draped in a sterile fashion.
7. Responds to patient's questions alleviating concerns regarding procedure.
8. Performs various duties during procedure.
9. Monitors patient hemodynamic status during procedure, including electrocardiogram.
10. May administer oxygen and sublingual nitroglycerin under direct supervision of physician performing procedure, as necessary.
11. Collects all pertinent data and all necessary calculations for physician's interpretation of results.
12. Balances, calibrates and records appropriate hemodynamic data.
13. Intervenes in cardiopulmonary emergencies.
14. May perform blood gas determinations using oximeter method while handling blood in a safe and appropriate manner.
15. Operates equipment properly in a reliable manner, per departmental standards, complying with all safety guidelines/policies.
16. Performs related duties, as required.
ADA Essential Functions
+ Associates Degree in Allied Health, Cardio Respiratory Science, or related field, required, to ensure knowledge of Cardiovascular System, Anatomy and Physiology. OR Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology AND Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), required. OR Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program AND New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist AND American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.), required.
+ Certified Basic Life Support (BLS), required. Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), preferred.
Knowledge of EKG rhythm interpretation and hemodynamic pressure, preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
